In this age of iMessage and subreddits, many people are scurrying about through daily life, not really taking the time to stop, relax, balance themselves out, and truly love and care for themselves. There are many steps to being able to do that, but, more important than anything is how you wake up in the morning. Because let’s get real, here.

Probability says that you wake up to some screeching alarm, and if you don’t push ‘Snooze’ eight times over, you roll over to check your phone for texts, Facebook notifications, SnapChats, and emails, and then you roll out of bed to get dressed, perhaps eat breakfast, perhaps not, and then rush out the door to do whatever thing there is to do that’s so important you don’t have the time to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how awesome you are.

So, here are 10 steps that you can do in 10 minutes to be able to wake up and have a GREAT day, and to also be that much more confident in who you are and what you do, which, in turn, attracts more happiness and peace into your life.

  1. Wake up

Now, I know that sounds redundant, but it is, in fact, the first step. Most people don’t even give attention to the fact that their eyes have opened to a new day. Take a second to acknowledge the fact that you’ve been given a fresh start– It’s never too late to start becoming the person you want to be.

  1. Say Good Morning

There is no better way to acknowledge not only your waking state, but yourSELF, by saying good morning to YOU!

  1. I LOVE ME!!

It is a personal belief of mine that people should tell themselves that they love themselves at least five times a day. But saying it one time a day (more than most people do) is a great start! Tell yourself ‘I love you’ every morning.

  1. The Rule of X

Come on, it’s only simple math- give yourself a hug!

  1. Centre Yourself

With all of the headiness that goes on living in the 21st century, it is extremely important to bring yourself together, body and mind, mind and body, especially after leaving the dream world. You don’t want to be walking around in a fog all day!

  1. Stand up

Whip off the covers and plant those feet on the ground!

7. Ground yourself

Really FEEL the Earth beneath your feet. Push yourself through your carpet or wood floors or whatever it is that you’re standing on, and feel as though you’re rooting yourself into the earth, like a tree. Think of the strongest tree you know. You ARE that tree. And for the rest of the day, you carry its strength, balance, and level-headedness within you.

  1. Just, Look At ‘YOU’!

Grab a mirror and stare at yourself. Where most people see flaws when they look at their reflections, look at your best qualities. Love them. Love your body, love your face, love your energy, love YOURSELF. The only way that anyone else will truly see you as beautiful is if you learn how to see yourself as beautiful first. And the more you see it, the more others will start to recognise it.

  1. Affirm Yourself

Tell yourself how awesome you are, how gorgeous you are (both inside and out), that you CAN do this! Or whatever else you need to tell yourself. Chances are, watching yourself say it back to yourself in the mirror will strengthen the chances of believing what you are telling yourself.

  1. Last, But Not Least, SMILE

Psychological tests have discovered that when people smile after or while making a statement, they are more likely to believe what they have just said. If you smile, it’s like sealing the envelope on the process. Even if you don’t believe it while you’re doing it, smiling will help you to believe it at least a little bit more.

If you do this every single morning, it is guaranteed that you will live a happier, more fulfilling day, week, and, overall, life. You will also have a TON more confidence, and who the hell doesn’t want that?
